Liviu Monsted is a published playwright, director, producer, the artistic director of 

“Mon Sans Productions” and the Executive Producer of “Deadhouse Productions”

His works have been performed to full houses in theatres around Sydney such as the Parramatta

Riverside, the King Street Theatre and the Factory Theatre for the Sydney Fringe Comedy Festival.

Liviu has produced and written hit shows for Mon Sans Productions. These include, “Not a Word",

"Hiding Jekyll",  “In Waiting” and “STREET” which is published by “Australian Play Transformed”.

He produced and directed the sold out premiere season of “The Various Methods of Escape”

at the Actor’s Pulse in Sydney and then remounted the show in London to critical acclaim at the

"Bread and Roses Theatre" marking the first international production for Mon Sans.In 2025 he

remounted STREET in London at the Barons Court Theatre as a charity performance for

"The Barons Court Project"

Other shows he has worked on are “Heathers the Musical” at the Factory theatre for “Encore

Productions” and the Australian Premiere of “Prisoner’s Dilemma”.

​

As of 2020, Liviu has written and directed the true crime immersive theatre shows titled

“Deadhouse: Tales Of Sydney Morgue”, works he has created for “Deadhouse” include the sold out season of “The Razor Gang Wars”, the acclaimed “Simmonds and Newcombe: The Deadly Run" and Juanita Nielson: The Final Days. Most recently he directed "The Shark Arm Case" at the Justice and Police Museum.

In June 2024 Liviu was commissioned by the NSW Parliament to write and direct an immersive short play based on the first year of the Legislative Council which was performed on August 25th for the bicentennial celebration. “The First Council: How a Modern Government was formed” was a sold out success.

Liviu is a showrunner for “Script in Hand” a development program for playwrights and he took on the role of Festival Director for the 2024 season of Short + Sweet Sydney, remounting the festival which featured over 70 original plays.

​

When not directing stage, Liviu works behind a camera on music videos for triple J unearthed artists such as “NARLA” and “Beautiful Friend”.

Short films Liviu has directed for are “How to Quit” and “It sets you free” which toured as part of “Flickefest”. As an actor Liviu has been featured in the web series “Sam and Sammy”, short films such as “How To Quit” and the feature film “Kick Ons”
